Finding the right photographs is always the first step (thankyou Google). They are combined into a (sometimes storytelling) composition on the computer (in Photoshop).

The painting is always treated as a whole, building it up layer upon transparant layer.

The printed result is beamed on watercolour-paper, so that the rough shapes can be traced with a pencil.

Usually the work is builded up from light to dark.

Out of free hand it is developed into a highly detailed pencildrawing.

Most paintings take about 25 hours to get finished.

Then the painting starts with watercolour and brushes (sponge and liquid masking film are sometimes applied as well).
